Singing it Through

Singing it Through is a wryly amusing and affectionate story of a year in the life of Misterton Choir. Let it be said right away that, among all the tens of thousands of choirs in Britain, there is nothing particularly special about Misterton, or its choir. Far from it. In fact it may seem to you very much like a town and a choir you know, or once knew. And the same with the choir singers. Some of them may well remind you of people you once sang with, or listened to. Maybe even yourself. But in one respect Misterton is different. It is a choir things happen to, and this particular year was one the choir talked about and chuckled over for years afterwards. It started as a perfectly ordinary year for them – turning up for choir practice, putting on concerts, playing their part in the community – but somehow it never happened as it should have. And the private lives of the singers, and the friendships in the choir, they were not always beds of roses either. But Misterton sang on. Some ancient impulse makes us want to sing together. At a birthday party, at a football match, on a protest march, in a coach party. You can be sure that, whatever misadventures befell Misterton Choir, or might yet befall them, they will sing on.
