A BELFAST KID

Belfast is very important to me. It has a troubled soul but it is where I was born and raised, where I went to school, where I started my working life and where my roots are. I have always felt a strong and affectionate connection to it and I always will. It is a city and a history to shake a fist at and to embrace seconds later. It is in my blood. It is where I began. It is where a lot of the poetry in this collection comes from. I talk about growing up, family, neighbours, aspects of Belfast and losing loved ones. I hope you like the poems. I hope you like the city.
